Creating magic together
a thousand helping hands
Application: from the 15. january 2026
Important notes
To experience the pleasure of being part of our colorful helper team, in addition to enthusiasm for Ancient Trance, you primarily need the motivation to perform your shifts in a committed, reliable and responsible manner.
Helping out with us means forming a close-knit team for a while, tackling challenges together, solving problems, and growing together in the process. Beyond the experience of learning and participating, your work is valued in the form of free drinks and a subsequent refund of your festival ticket (excluding caravan tickets). Hugs are included, of course. Please note: Shift length and number, as well as the provision of drinks and food, vary depending on the team. Ticket refunds are only available after completing the agreed-upon shifts.
Where to participate?
The festival's main phase is divided into 3 sections: setup, festival, and dismantling.
Where you can help depends on when you want to arrive and depart, and what your preferences and skills are. Your help may well extend over several phases (e.g., setup and takedown, or the festival and takedown).
-
Setup and Teardown: 23.7. – 6.8. & 10. – 13.8.
The setup process develops its own flow; we only take on helpers who can be with us for at least 10 days, ideally for the entire setup and teardown period. Since we want to grow together as a family, live and get to know each other together at the setup camp – this is the best way for us to achieve that!
Here you need at least basic knowledge in one of the following areas:
- Shuttle service/Transport: One of the key tasks before, during, and after the festival is transporting people and goods. We need drivers for cars, vans, and trucks. Besides the appropriate driver's license, safe, responsible, careful, and considerate driving is essential.
- Electrical/Lighting: Setting up the electrical infrastructure. You don't need to be an electrician. However, basic knowledge and the ability to lay cables and install distribution boxes efficiently and systematically are necessary.
- Water/Showers: Laying fresh water supplies throughout the festival grounds and constructing showers. The more people who can help with this, the further the water will reach. Creativity and an interest in plumbing are required.
- Structural Construction: Constructing the bars and all structures (e.g., tents, stages, decorations, etc.). You should be comfortable using tools and able to work independently within a team.
In the following areas, you don't need any special skills, just the motivation to complete the respective tasks creatively and reliably:
- Trashpandas: Waste Management and Cleanliness. A clean and sustainable festival requires a conscious approach to waste and its disposal. Help with the setup and sensible distribution of recycling stations and ashtrays, and raise awareness among all volunteers and guests about responsible waste handling and prevention.
- Sign Workshop: To ensure everyone can find their way around Ancient Trance, a well-planned distribution of signs on and around the festival grounds is needed. We already have a large stack of signs from previous years in our storage; others need to be made.
- Decoration/Land Art: Harmoniously enhancing the natural beauty of our festival locations. There's room here to contribute your own ideas and express your creativity in implementing our decoration concept.
- Kitchen: The kitchen provides meals for the volunteers before and during the festival and therefore needs people who enjoy working with food, chopping, or washing dishes, even during setup.
We'll be taking everything down for the teardown! ;) We'll pack it all up, store it away, and even pick up the last cigarette butt to leave the place cleaner than we found it. If you sign up for teardown, it's important that you actually show up! The more we all pitch in, the more fun we'll have taking down the equipment – and the sooner we'll be finished (and can celebrate the teardown)! This is an intimate phase of the festival, as only a small group will be working together towards a single goal: to bring our time together to a successful close and (ideally on Wednesday evening) celebrate the festival one last time!
-
During the Festival: 6. – 9.8.
Especially, we need support for these teams, during the 4 festival days, but also 3 days before and 2 days after:
- The Trashpandas steer cargo bikes across the festival grounds, transporting full garbage bags to nearby collection points. Ideal for idealists with strong arms.
- In the volunteer office, you'll assist with the computer check-in of all volunteers before and during the festival and answer any questions they may have. English isn't required, but it's a plus, as you can then also check in English-speaking volunteers ;)
At the information/welcome point, you'll greet festival guests and answer countless questions. A job characterized by direct human interaction and a fun atmosphere.
When supervising the workshops, you'll help ensure they run smoothly, allowing instructors and participants to fully engage with the content.
There are also opportunities to help at the merchandise stand,
behind the bar,
with team catering,
at the entrance,
in the festival office/reception,
and with parking and camping.
Spiritkeepers are the heart and soul of our festival, making it as enjoyable as possible for everyone. If you enjoy connecting with other people and are communicative and empathetic, this is the place for you.
Substitutes/Jumpers are always deployed wherever someone has dropped out or where there is a shortage of helping hands for other reasons. This gives versatile individuals the opportunity to experience the festival from a variety of perspectives.
