Fascinated by the Jew's harp, the small musical instrument with the striking tongue, whose principle for producing these wondrous sounds is traditionally found all over the world, Clemens Voigt and Sven Otto (from the Jew's harp trade DanMoi) founded the first international Jew's harp festival and the Jew's harp association in 2007. 

Over time, the small group evolved into a large organizing team that, with a lot of love and voluntary commitment, transformed the small indoor winter festival into a grand summer open-air event for Jew's harp and world music. 

However, what has remained unchanged is the name Ancient Trance, which connects "the original" with "ecstasy," the transcendence of the ordinary into a dreamlike or highly concentrated state of consciousness.
